Originally, a blog for our year living and working in the Japanese island of Kyushu. Now that we are back home, its just the average blog. We'll update friends and family on whatever is going through our heads.

Weekend on Lido Beach

You're all well aware that we haven't posted an update in quite a while. You know how it is. When you're at home going through your typical routine, you think to yourself "who wants to hear about this". The fact is, there have photo-worthy locations and stories worth telling right here in Central Florida. However, I always fail to stop and capture a few good photos and take 15 minutes out of my day to write about it. Well, enough is enough. From now on, Steph and I are going to attempt to update this blog once again. I'll start with a quick little trip we took to Lido Key, a small beach-strewn island in city of Sarasota, on the gulf-coast of Florida.

I had made reservations a couple of months back to stay at the beach, however, it's not easy to leave town when there's no convenient place to leave the dog. So, my solution was to search for a pet-friendly efficiency on the beach, and I found just the place: 'Coquina on the Beach' on Lido Key. Lido Key is a very quiet little vacation spot just off of St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota, Florida. If I were to guess, I'd say it's about 3 miles from the northern tip of Lido Key to the southern tip. Although there are a handfull of residences, it's mostly a quiet string of vacation rentals and condos on the Gulf of Mexico. These vacation spots ranged from our quaint, little efficiency to the gi-normous Ritz-Carlton on the Beach. Anyway here's a beach-side view of our efficiency.

There were 2 beds. Of course, one was for Steph and I. You can guess who stayed in the other bed.

After a day of sunning on the beach, we headed over to St. Armand's Square. This 'square' is actually a round-about surrounded by dozens of little shops, restaurants, and ice cream shops. In the distance you can see the Lido Grille, where we had dinner.

After burning a few calories shopping, Steph was ready for a nice cup of hazelnut Gelato.

This is definitely a good place to relax and clear your mind for a while. The beach in front of 'Coquina' is private and dog-friendly and there are even 2 nature walks with entrances less than 3 blocks from our parking lot. I definitely enjoy being right on the beach, but then again, who doesn't.

Thanks you two! I think some of our out of staters will enjoy seeing what Florida has to offer. Was there doggie candy on Baby's turned down bed?

Thanks for giving us a peek at one of the beaches in Sarasota. We would like to make a trip to Siesta Beach and your photos confirmed how nice the beaches in and around Sarasota are.

Keep up the great blog.
