GO UCF KNIGHTS!
On Saturday, September 15, 2007 UCF held its inaugural home game at the new $55 million Brighthouse Stadium on campus. UCF previously held its football games at the Orlando Citrus bowl every year. I never really understood why it was important to have a stadium on campus but after Saturday's game I know it is totally worth it. Nick and I attended the tailgating festivities and the football game along with 45,622 other people. School spirit was at an all-time high and it felt good to be alumni...and to be there when it all started! This was a historical day and we enjoyed every moment of it.
UCF played University of Texas-Austin Longhorns, who are the #6 team in the nation (UCF has never been ranked in the top 25). Everyone predicted that UCF would be brutally beaten by UTA, but the UCF Knights put up a fight. We were ahead for a little while...down for a while...then miraculously in the last minute of the game came back....close but not enough to beat UTA. The final score was 32-35 UTA. Even though we didn't win, it was an awesome game. Plus, I think the UCF staff was happy that none of the fans stormed the field to pull down the field posts (what would've happened had we won). Nick and I will attend the homecoming game in November against Marshall. We are definitely considering season tickets for next year
UCF Student Section. Did I mention it was sold out?
