Originally, a blog for our year living and working in the Japanese island of Kyushu. Now that we are back home, its just the average blog. We'll update friends and family on whatever is going through our heads.

Christmas Day

Since I haven't updated the blog in a while, I forgot to post the pictures of our Christmas tree. Our tree needed more lights but it served its purpose.

On Christmas Day, Nick and I headed to his parents' home for the day. Below is a shot of their living room pre-gift opening. I forgot to take a picture of all the personalized stockings.
Every year we improve the time it takes to open all the gifts and stocking stuffers. When I first started dating Nick, it would take all day. We'd break for lunch, snacks, and dinner! Now, it only takes a couple of hours. I like that it takes us that long, that way it lasts and you feel like you've been opening presents all day long! :)
Later in the day, Sam (the cat) wanted to jump up on the china cabinet. He was determined even though Mary kept telling no! He finally took a leap of faith and jumped from the bar stool to the top of it. I was scared he would fall while playing with the feather but he kept his balance. He's so fun to watch!

Nick and I had a great Christmas holiday. On the way home, we reminded ourselves how fortunate we are that our families are within driving distance. As "7 yr old Nick" would say, "we got everything we wanted!"

Christmas Eve

I finally had time to install the new software in my computer to post pictures again.

Here are some pictures from LATE Christmas Eve. It's our tradition to get together with the family (extended and all) until the weee hours of the night and then come home and open presents with my parents. These were taken at about 1am on 12/24.

Left is my sister...I got her a gift card since she's moving into a new apartment in the next couple of weeks. Middle is my mom...I just wanted to showcase my beautifully wrapped gift to her! To the right is dad...happy to finally get his Bourne trilogy box set.

My dad surprised my sister and I with a special gift: matching bangles (I think that's what they're called?!?)...

Earlier in the night...I'm surprised Mom made it 'til 1am drinking margaritas
